Key Insights

This report forms part of a four part thought leadership series. The series is intended to inspire Islamic financial institutions to embrace the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and demonstrate to the world that consideration for people, planet and purpose can sit alongside profit and form the heart of the next generation of Islamic financial products. The specific report provides a quantitative and qualitative analysis of responsible investing in the Islamic finance sector, assessing the level of engagement with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) amongst financial institutions in the 57 Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states. It also analyses the approaches and terminology used by 12 Islamic finance signatories. Finally it features four detailed case studies developed following in-depth interviews with senior representatives from PRI signatories in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the UK.
